Rome is the capital city and the most populous city in Italy with a population of over 2.7 million people. Just like most of Europe and the entire country of Italy, Rome holidays use the Euro as its currency. Rome is a great place to visit any time of the year because of the beautiful weather, architecture and art.
The Colosseum and the Vatican Museums are the most visited tourist attractions in Rome, but beautiful buildings can be seen throughout the city. The Colosseum is an amphitheater that is located in Rome that was built during the Roman Empire. It is considered a marvel of modern architecture and is one of the most well known structures in the world. Parts of the Colosseum have been destroyed over the years, but most of the building remains intact.
Over 4 million tourists visit the Vatican Museums each year, which makes it the 37th most popular tourist destination in the world. There are 4 different museums that make up the Vatican Museums and are named after the Pope that founded them. The museums feature some of the most famous paintings and sculptures by Italian artists.
Rome features relatively hot summers, but very mild winters with no snow fall. The hottest months are July and August and they will see the high temperature raise above 30°C on most days. December and January are the coolest months in Rome, and the high temperatures will stay around 12°C during this time. It will rarely drop below freezing in Rome. The weather makes any time of the year a great time to visit.
